A good haircut isn’t just about how it looks when you leave the salon. It should suit you, work with your hair and be something you can actually manage when you’re back home.

At The Colour Works, Julie and Grace like to have a proper chat about what you’re looking for before getting started. You might have a clear idea of the style you want, or you might want some advice. Either way, we’ll look at your hair, how it naturally falls and moves, and what will work best for you and your features.

We Listen, Then We Cut

Sometimes you have a very clear idea of what you want. Sometimes you know you need a change but aren’t quite sure what that should be.

Bringing along a photograph can be really helpful. It gives us something to talk about and helps us understand what you like about a particular style. We can then look at how that style might work with your own hair and features, and make adjustments where needed.

The same applies if you’ve had a particular haircut before that you loved. Rather than simply copying it, we’ll look at your hair as it is now and work out the best way to achieve a similar feel or shape.

Every person’s hair is different, and sometimes the best haircut isn’t exactly the one in the photograph. It’s the one that works for you.

Cutting With Your Hair in Mind

Hair thickness, texture, natural movement, face shape and how much time you want to spend styling it can all make a difference.

We work with a wide range of hair types and styles, from classic cuts and simple trims to more individual looks. Curly and textured hair, layered styles and modern cuts are all part of what we do when they’re right for the client and their hair.

Sometimes a small change to the length, layers or shape can make a big difference to how a haircut complements your features. We’ll talk through these things with you rather than simply cutting your hair to match a photograph.

We don’t believe in forcing your hair into a style that doesn’t suit the way it naturally behaves. Our aim is to create a cut that looks good when you leave the salon and continues to work for you afterwards.
